About me...
In 1991 I graduated with a Bsc Hons in Town and Regional Planning from Dundee University and started what was to become a 13yr long career in Local Government. Initially in policy and community strategy formation with Argyll and Bute District Council (at that time, leading the way with innovative approaches to community engagement). Later, gradually working my way south, I eventually used my skills to work across all sectors of local government under the "Best Value" initiative, a programme which challenged the way in which local government was providing its services to the public and strived to ensure that it's polices and performance indicators

aligned, at all levels, with the delivery of community led aims and objectives - and that budgets were truly aligned with those of partner organisations to effectively deliver the end results.
By 2004 I had accrued a successful track record but the long desk bound hours and the necessity of working at high level outside any established career structure was at times particularly stressful and began to take a toll on my health. I took a year out to reconsider - and to dance! After a year, however, I still felt unclear as to any new career direction and felt I needed help. I joined a local yoga class and started receiving regular cranio-sacral therapy. It was only then that the idea of training in holistic therapies, alongside teaching salsa, was born. I was accepted at the Karuna Institute, but chose to study anatomy and physiology in advance by way of preparation. In 2005 I began studying massage under, the now late, John Freeman, in order to "have something to apply the anatomy and physiology to, to make it less dry, and to get used to client contact and taking client notes". (Until that point I had never had a professional massage in my life)! |
Once I had put my hands on the body, however, I never looked back! I loved it instantly and was especially engaged by traditional concepts of health and wellbeing: of us being channels of energy in connection with nature all around us and that dis-ease and loss of insight occurs when those channels become blocked or disconnected for any reason.
One course led to another as each aspect of my being presented itself for healing; Touch for Health taught me how wide the reasons for disconnect could be and introduced me to the concept of meridians and the Chinese Medicine Wheel. Zero Balancing opened the door to working with bone and ligament and Bio Stress Release showed me how simple and effortless the release of even long-held tension in soft tissue can be. Spinal Touch enabled me to gently re-align the spine and taught me the importance of alkalising the diet. Flower essences and Emotional Stress Release helped me to heal at the emotional level without even needing to know what the issue was about. Scar Healing removed the blockages of dense scar material whilst Hand and Foot baths help balance and draw out heavy metal toxins. |
As I open physically and emotionally, so does my awareness and intuition. It is a continuous journey, which I offer my clients also...
