Thai Yoga Massage
Known today as Thai (Yoga) Massage, Nuad Boran (ancient massage) is a 2000yr old healing system combining acupuncture and energy balancing techniques, Indian Ayurvedic principles and assisted yoga postures. Often handed down through the oral tradition, over 60 stone etchings displaying treatment points, herbal remedies and energy lines, as recorded in a few surviving ancient texts, were |
commissioned by King Rama III in 1832 and are on public display at the famous Wat Po temple complex in Bangkok.
Traditional Thai healing is rooted in the belief that all forms of life are sustained by a vital force (lom) that is carried along invisible pathways (sen) running through our bodies. This life-force is drawn from the air we breath, the water we drink and the food we eat and it is believed that disease and dysfunction come about when emotional or physical blockages occur along these pathways. Accordingly, the intent in Thai Massage is to free this trapped energy and stimulate the natural flow of lom to achieve and maintain a general balance of wellness. |
Through assisted yoga, the body is able to be moved in ways that are difficult to attain via usual exercise and individual practice. Relaxed, deep breathing induces a balanced and peaceful state of mind and the combined benefits of these techniques help to bring a focus and profundity to the session. Performed within traditional Thai parameters, a properly administered Thai Massage
can be a powerful tool for personal, physical and spiritual maintenance and transformation. NB. Due to injury, Julia was unable to able to attend her final exam in Thai Yoga Massage.
